Ashford Coatings supplies a high performance, lubricious hydrophilic coating system suitable for medical device applications. Particularly engineered for coiled stainless steel guidewires, but applicable to various polymer substrates as well, our two layer coating system provides unparalleled lubricity and mechanical properties in a formulation that can be applied by dipping or spray coating to devices such as interventional guidewires and catheters.

We employ a mixed polymer system, avoiding the expense and complexity of reactive polymer systems, which can be far more difficult to apply. The Ashford Coating system is heat cured, which eliminates the need for costly, hard-to-validate ultraviolet curing and processing equipment. Our coatings are extremely thin (2-5 microns), conformal to complex surfaces and capable of reducing friction by more than 90 percent.
